Mobility, Posture & Pain - Common pain
Knee pain and rebuilding capacity
Last reviewed 3 August 2026. How we write this.
Knee pain has many causes and needs context such as age, trauma, swelling, locking and training change.
Load-related pain often improves by temporarily modifying aggravating work and rebuilding quadriceps, hip and task capacity.
Do not rely on one exercise
- Manage the provocative load.
- Train strength progressively.
- Restore sport or activity demands gradually.
- Seek assessment for major swelling, instability, locking or inability to bear weight.
Imaging findings such as wear can exist without pain and should be interpreted with symptoms and examination.
