Mobility, Posture & Pain - Common pain
Tendon pain and progressive loading
Last reviewed 3 August 2026. How we write this.
Tendons adapt slowly to load, and persistent tendon pain is not usually solved by complete rest or aggressive stretching alone.
A sudden spike in running, jumping or lifting can exceed current capacity.
Rehabilitation principles
- Reduce the most provocative load temporarily.
- Use progressive resistance matched to symptoms.
- Rebuild speed and energy-storage work later.
- Expect adaptation across weeks or months.
A sudden snap, major weakness or loss of function may indicate rupture and needs prompt assessment.
