Recovery and repair peptides, explained
What "repair and recovery" peptides are studied for, and how to read the claims around them honestly.
The recovery-and-repair family is probably the most talked-about corner of the peptide world, and the one where the gap between enthusiasm and evidence is widest. These peptides are studied for their signalling role in the body's natural repair processes.
What the interest is based on
In laboratory and animal research, some of these peptides show effects on cell migration, blood-vessel formation and connective-tissue behaviour - the kinds of processes involved in healing. That is the mechanistic story, and at the level of cells and animals it is a real one.
Where the evidence actually stands
Human evidence is much thinner. For most compounds in this family, well-designed trials in people are sparse, small or absent, which means confident claims about recovery in humans are running ahead of the data. That does not make the research uninteresting; it makes it early. The honest position is: promising in the lab, largely unproven in people.
If you take one thing from this lesson, make it this: "shown to promote healing in a study" almost always means a study in cells or rodents. Always ask which.
