Posture myths and desk comfort
Last reviewed 3 August 2026. How we write this.
There is no single perfect posture that prevents pain; variation and tolerance matter more than holding one position rigidly.
Any position can become uncomfortable when held for long enough. Posture can be relevant to a specific task without being a universal diagnosis.
A better desk strategy
- Change position regularly.
- Place equipment for comfort and task demands.
- Build general capacity outside work.
- Treat pain as more than an ergonomic geometry problem.
Posture advice should increase options, not make someone afraid to bend or sit.
