Sleep apnoea: signs, testing and treatment
Last reviewed 3 August 2026. How we write this.
Loud snoring, pauses in breathing, gasping and marked daytime sleepiness can indicate obstructive sleep apnoea.
Sleep apnoea fragments sleep and changes oxygen levels. It is not fixed by general sleep hygiene and is associated with cardiovascular and driving risk.
