Units, concentration and why they matter
The concepts behind peptide dosing: what units like mcg and mg mean, what concentration is, and why the two are so easily confused.
Dosing in the research literature is a matter of arithmetic and units, and most of the confusion around it comes from mixing those units up. This lesson explains the concepts. It is not a protocol, and it does not tell you to administer anything.
Amount versus concentration
Two different numbers both get called "the dose", and they are not the same. One is the amount of the compound, measured by weight - usually micrograms (mcg) or milligrams (mg), where 1 mg is 1000 mcg. The other is the concentration - how much compound is dissolved in how much liquid, for example milligrams per millilitre. A study that reports "250 mcg" is describing an amount; to know what volume of a given solution that corresponds to, you also need the concentration.
Why this matters for reading research
When you see a dose in a paper, being able to separate "how much compound" from "how much liquid" is what lets you compare one study to another, and what lets you notice when a claim does not add up. It is the same literacy a pharmacist or researcher uses, applied to reading rather than to doing.
This is conceptual education about how doses are expressed. It is not a dosing recommendation, and any real-world use of an unlicensed compound is a decision for a qualified professional.
