Heart attack and stroke warning signs
Last reviewed 3 August 2026. How we write this.
Possible heart or stroke symptoms require urgent action rather than online optimisation advice.
Chest pressure, sudden weakness, facial droop, speech difficulty, severe unexplained breathlessness or collapse can be emergencies.
Know the limits of prevention content
- Risk-factor education does not rule out disease.
- Fitness does not make someone immune.
- Symptoms can present differently between people.
- Call local emergency services for suspected heart attack or stroke.
Routine prevention and emergency recognition are separate skills, and both belong in cardiovascular education.
